YOSAL’s Orchestra had an amazing concert on October 4th at Hartnell College’s The Western Stage. It was a revamping of their Spring Concert, “Music From the Screen.” A few highlights were the song, “Baba Yetu,” from the video game, Civilization, conducted by teaching artist Andrew Medley, was accompanied by teaching artist Michael Gomez on the solo, and teaching artists Liz Baseman, Felisha Garcia, and Isabel Guerrero singing along with students from our Pre-Orchestra program. A track from the film “Game of Thrones,” was conducted by teaching artist Miran McPoland. Orchestra Director, Amalia Diaz, conducted the piece “Take Five” from David Brubeck. The Orchestra had another phenomenal concert!

Pre-Orchestra’s first performance of the year! Ms Felisha, Ms Liz, and Mr Michael took 25 students from the Pre-Orchestra program to Oldtown Salinas this past Saturday for a mini performance at the Farmer’s Market. The students did great! Many thanks to Jessica McKillip and the marketplace for having us back!12063536_1201091473239771_6361170580960107438_n 12038119_1201091413239777_8569107541772092235_n 12019815_1201091293239789_6230103208527644656_n
